THE UNDERRATED HAMILTON

The Hamilton Khaki Field 38 Automatic is one of the most underrated watches around. It is one of the most impressive watches you can get at the price it is going for. Simple & classy, yet it brings certain sophistication to your wrist.
Having a case size of 38mm wide and 11.5mm thick, it is tailored for someone who prefers something clean and not so bulky. A brushed finished is chosen for the case, paired with a polished bezel for a stark contrast.

The dial has 24-hour indexes sitting in the inner circle of the hour index for easy readability. The indexes employ a classic font, nothing fancy. The indexes and the hands (hour and minute) are made with Superluminova so telling the time in the night wouldn’t be an issue. The second hand has a red arrow at the end to add in a dash of colour. For those who love to admire the intricacies of a watch, the Khaki Field comes in a see through case back.

The Khaki Field 38 Automatic uses a Cal. H-10 movement. This movement is a modification of the ETA 2824-2 movement. The beats per hour are dropped to 21,600 (from the 28,800) however the power reserve boasts an impressive 80 hours. This just means that the sweeping motion of the second hand wouldn’t be as smooth as an ETA 2824-2. But at 80 hours power reserve, the watch would still run for almost 3 days without any wearing (almost double of an average automatic watch).

With a Recommended Retail Price of 720 SGD, this watch is not getting the attention it should. A watch with a modified ETA 2824-2 Swiss movement would easily go above 1000 SGD. A neatly designed watch with a quality movement, it is something you should definitely look in to if you are looking for an automatic watch.
